On New Year’s Day 2026, Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis hosted a short film called “Resurrection” to announce what every TRX fan had been hoping for: the 2027 Ram 1500 SRT TRX is real, it’s official, it’s more powerful than the original, and it arrives in the second half of 2026. This is the most significant SRT announcement in years — not just because the TRX is back, but because it officially relaunches the SRT Performance Division across all American Stellantis brands.

What’s New vs the Original TRX
The original TRX ran from 2021-2024 with 702 hp before being discontinued as Stellantis pushed toward electrification. The 2027 model brings 75 more horsepower — a meaningful bump that required updated engine management and new hardware according to Ram’s engineering team. The 0-60 time drops by a full second despite the truck being heavier than the original.
The 2027 model also sits on Ram’s fifth-generation 1500 platform, which is newer and more refined than the fourth-gen platform the original TRX used. Updated interior technology, improved L2+ driver assistance systems, and revised traction control calibration specifically tuned for 777 hp off-road are all part of the package.
The SRT Badge Returns to Ram
This is historically significant. The last time a Ram wore the SRT badge was the Viper V10-powered Ram SRT-10 from 2004-2006 — roughly 10,000 were built. Nearly two decades later, the SRT badge is back on a Ram, and Kuniskis has confirmed it’s the first of several SRT products coming across Dodge, Ram, and Jeep.
The SRT Performance Division’s return is being positioned as a genuine recommitment to performance culture — not a one-off model but a revived sub-brand that will span multiple vehicles. Stellantis’s Investor Day presentation outlined plans for multiple SRT variants across its American brands in the coming years.
The Price Question
At $102,590 to start, the 2027 SRT TRX costs significantly more than the original TRX’s $71,690 launch price. That’s a $30,000 increase in roughly five years. In fairness: 75 more horsepower, a newer platform, more technology, and five years of inflation. But it’s a significant number that puts the TRX firmly in full-luxury territory.
For context: a well-specced Ford F-150 Raptor R (700 hp, supercharged V8) starts around $110,000. The TRX undercuts it slightly while making more power. The competitive positioning is deliberate.
The Bloodshot Night Edition
Ram announced a launch special called the Bloodshot Night Edition to celebrate the relaunch. Black exterior, red interior accents, unique badging, and a serialized build number. These will be the most collectible 2027 TRXs — expect them to carry a premium at dealers and on the secondary market.
Should You Buy One or Hold for an Original?
The original 2021-2024 TRX can be had for $70,000-90,000 used — meaningfully less than the new model’s $102,590. The original makes 702 hp vs 777 hp, which in a 6,000+ lb truck is a difference you’d notice on a dyno but maybe not in daily driving.
If you want the newest technology, the SRT badge, and warranty coverage, buy the 2027. If you want proven reliability and a lower entry price, a clean original TRX is still an excellent truck. Both are extraordinary machines with the same Hellcat engine DNA.
